Two construction workers were rescued Tuesday after a window washer unit collapsed on the side of the 48-story Duke Energy Center under construction uptown.

UAE-Fatalities at construction sites down by 50%

The number of construction-related fatalities among the members of the Build Safe UAE (BSU), a not-for-profit health, safety and welfare initiative has dropped significantly during the first ten months of 2009.

According to safety statistics released by the BSU, a total of seven fatalities have been reported so far this year compared to 20 in 2008 with the fatality frequency rate going down by over 50 per cent. The fatality frequency rate in 2009 was 0.0011 compared to 0.0023 in 2008.
