When a glass is shattered it normally breaks into pieces, but a laminated glass does not due to the presence of polyvinyl butyral between the two layers of the glass. Strong impacts at times are unable to penetrate the laminated glass and hence its strength saves it from being broken into several sharp pieces. Places which are prone to storms like the hurricane require the construction which can withstand them, thus using laminated glass for exteriors like the windows, storefronts, etc. Following are some of the advantages of a laminated glass:
